Short story

A short story is a work of fiction that is usually written in prose, often in narrative format. A short story usually deals with a few characters and often concentrates on the creation of the mood rather than the plot. The short story format tends to be more pointed than longer works of fiction, such as novellas (in the 20th and 21st century sense) and novels. Short story definitions based on length differ somewhat, even among professional writers, in part because of the fragmentation of the medium into genres. Since the short story format includes a wide range of genres and styles, the actual length is determined by the individual author's preference and the submission guidelines relevant to the story's actual market. Guidelines vary greatly among publishers.[3] Many short story writers define their work through a combination of creative, personal expression, and artistic integrity. They attempt to resist...

Prashant Uttekar - Who-men?
Who-men?Woman – Completing a Man  Ever wondered what happens if there is not woman in your life? It takes me little behind in my life when I was immature in my early teens, and my statements were, “women are such a bundle of trouble” “they talk too much” “they are very high maintenance” etc. and list would go on. Infact you’d still find some of these statement made by aged males, I won’t call them mature. My simple question to them is how they see their life without a woman? more »

Charu Sharma - Women : The Fairer Sex or Weaker?
In a country where millions of people worship Goddess Lakshmi, Saraswati, Durga and many more facets of femininity, why is it so that women are not the fairer but always the weaker sex? Every morning we read at least one case of rape, abduction, acid-attack, molestation amongst the various crimes against women, in the newspapers. But do we also read the same number of reports on arrests and punishments of the guilty? No. Capital city of the nation soon reaching the top of the economic ladder, more »

Yogesh Kumar Sharma - Then what if 1.6 Cr. is offered??
Now once again an IIM graduate is offered with more then a crore rupees. I don't find any surprise or WOW factor in this. See, it is not a big deal for a hiring company to offer this much amount to our Indian graduate. Afterall the company will be paying him $350,000 means, approx. 30,000 $ per month. Salary in places like USA etc. 30,000$ per month is like 1 lakh rs. per month here in India. So, what is the big thing about it?The big thing would be if the same graduate from IIM gets 1 Crore Rs. more »

Last Summer in Salvador
Last summer I chose to spend in the festering jungle heat of Brazil’s northern coast in a Pink House by the water’s edge in Salvador. It’s the kind of place where you sweat your body weight, pleading with sleep to take over your melting body. Instead what slowly took over was the stench of the receding tide. It filled our nostrils and it filled our senses in a space that drained you just to survive. No place of frivolous pleasures this; except at the bottom of cool long Caiprinhas eve more »

Kashish Oberoi - Sexpose'
Shattered conceptions !Let me first confess, what got me to write this piece,  my sister has just completed her six months at work and is a changed person today. It really reminded me of my first year at work.I was this cool chick, right out of  a not so bad University with a Master's degree in Mass Communication. I felt so sorted in life, moving back to my city with a offer letterin my hand. I was on cloud nine as I was one of the very few campus pick ups !So with that little pride and ethic more »
