Globalization has to do with processes of international integration arising from increasing human connectivity and interchange of worldviews, products, ideas, and other aspects of culture. In particular, advances in transportation and telecommunications infrastructure, including the rise of the Internet, represent major driving factors in globalization and precipitate further interdependence of economic and cultural activities. Though several scholars situate the origins of globalization in modernity, others have reviewed its long history since before the European age of discovery and voyages to the New World. Some even trace the origins to the third millennium B.C.E. Human interaction over long distances has existed for thousands of years.
