Hey people, i am sure there are many like me who are confused between Yoga or Gym which is more effective for weight reduction. SO what do you think...

The goal to pursue Yoga is primarily for health. Using yoga you can also be fitter, slimmer and healthier. The gym may help you lose weight quickly but can't guarantee health. I would suggest a combination of yoga and gym will give you more effective results. Besides yoga can be practiced from home and hardly takes any effort....

I have seen a huge 120kg odd guy loosing 21kgs in 3-4 months and "bending like a cheer-leader girls". He did Yoga, may be your friend is not breathing well when he/she did the asanas. Gym helps me show the muscles and its effects too last for long. Some asanas helps reach the gland/organs like pituitary, kidney, intestines etc which Gym does not and so I feel that those exercises can be done after Gym. Yes take a small rest after all your Gym routines when your breath is normal do them. In Gym with less weight do many rounds to build the stamina you need for "your life" - in way this is what yoga too does, less stress but many asanas. Btw I am not an expert in Yoga nor Gym, this is my observations.

I have done both and both are equally rewarding. Yoga gives you instantly new energy and energy that will last thro the day, flexibility of the body.Gym builds the stamina over a bit longer period of time than yoga, helps to "show up" the body and muscles. Yoga uses the weight of your own body for exercise, while Gym...you know. To me at the end of the day, its the motivation that you need to have. For sure Yoga offers some spiritual advantages than Gym. I love both.<br /> You can try Gym with some exercise of Yoga, like the back bending/leaning which is not there in Gym exercise. Enjoy.

I think its more about what do you want?? do you want to just lose weight or lose weight faster? coz it would depend a lot on your requirement. its often said that weight loss through gymming does not last for long while results from yoga are much more effective

Yoga is a safer method and should be preferred any day over gymming.

But yoga is too slow as a practice, where one can see instant results from gym. So its tough to say which is mor effective.
