Punishment should match crime not criminal's age!

The fact that one of the six accused in the Delhi gang rape case is a minor could mean that he may walk free with minimum punishment for the ghastly crimes that he committed on the 23 year old para medical student. According to reports the 17 year old accused was responsible for not only luring the girl and her companion into the bus that gruesome night, he was also responsible for not only raping her but indulged in the most heinous crimes known to man. The question then is? Should the fact that he was capable of committing adult crimes be ignored just because he is six months shy of turning 18? Why should he be spared the death sentence just because he is 17?
