With the recent performance of India, many people have started questioning the credibility of our Captain, Dhoni. Do you feel that his choice as Captain has been overhyped? Or should we just give him a break?

Under-hyped, over-hyped, highly lucky, not so lucky, talented leader, not talented.... its debatable and endless. BUT WHAT DHONI HAS ACHIEVED AS CAPTAIN FOR INDIA ITS UNPARALLELED!!! and i dont think hype and luck alone will keep the person at top, so i guess he has a great acumen and supreme confidence on his capabilities.

Guys, In India it is like that only. Everything is over hyped. Dhoni is just like any other captain, he is young and is still learning. If the team performs, we win and if not, we loose. Captaincy is mainly dependent on team. Its not just the captain that decides strategy, every senior player involves in it. Dhoni's batting skills have definitely come down, but he is still better than Sehwag, Yuvraj and players like these, who does not believe in Situational game plan. No other member in the current indian team deserves a captaincy post

Sweet Guy
He is very much over hyped by the media and the people. He has been lucky most of the times which made him a lucky mascot of indian cricket

More than a captain, i like his committment, if Dhoney clicks we will win the match for sure, but if Sachin clicks we are not sure. I.e Dhoni has the complete ownership not only to score but to win the match for india. Isn't this enough to be a captain.

Absolutely, 3 points to prove he is over hyped and lucky;
1. Inspire of very bad performance in last world cup he was given the captaincy stripping Dravid.
2.His achievement of T20 world cup honor equally shared by younis khan
3.He has same bad patch as Younis kha but still recognized and over hyped only because of his 50+AVG!!

See he is not over hyped.I can prove it.
1.He has won a tri nation against Australia and Sri Lanka in Australia. Younis khan cannot even imagine of doing that.
2. The highest score of dhoni is 183* against srilanka whereas younis khan's highest is 144 against Hong Kong.
3. Achieving a average of 50+ is not easy and to retain that average is much more tougher than this. khan's average is only 33.
4.Dhoni's win rate is 63% after 67 matches.
So comparison between younis and dhoni in terms of record as a batsman or as a captain is just a waste of time.

Yes, he is overhyped when he not at all deserves to be a captain. He is lucky enough to get good players under him. He does not play his natural game any more and i think he is concerned with his average and ranking. Technically he is even inferior to Australian bowlers.
I remember sometime back he said " We don't need the senior players " where one or the other senior players proved to be the match winner, even now India can't do without them.

yes he is very much overhyped....how he can be a good captain when he doesn't know the basics of the game....he send RP SINGH and praveen kumar to field at the point and cover....he can't read the pitch...he looks with bat like a person who is taming his cattle

Yes, the most overhyped captain. We won the matches when all the players are in good form. But now players are not in good nick. where is dhoni's performance, stra tegies and don't care policy. Another thing he has already amassed a lot of booty for his future so no need to play cricket.
Why we are so much crazy for cricket, whereas in all other sections of sports we are lagging far behind. It's time to focus on all others, otherwise we won't find our name in the sports domain.
