A study has claimed that Delhi has the smallest percentage of working women as compared to cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai. Delhi's patriarchal attitude is being blamed for women not working in offices. Most seems to think that a woman's place is at home.

Is this backward attitude the reason why there are just 10.6% working women as against the 53.1% of men working in Delhi? And because there are so few women in  the workplace, could that be the reason why women are soft targets for rape, sexual harassment and molestation? Isn't it time men start accepting the fact that women too have equal rights?

and what makes you think “Being Housewife” makes your city “Backward”. Wow!!! You seriously need “Help”. My wife poses Master Degree and chooses to be house wife to focus on our only son. She is way mature and versatile personality then any other “Thick Head” working “Girl”. She is a role model of many of her friends and next gen kids of our family. Remember “Thick Head” people declared “Park Street, Kolkata Victim” a “Chalu” women as she was raped while returning from Pub. So please be little realistic while making your conclusion about surveys results. I’m sure even you know that most of the housewife in good families play the “Key Role” is family growth not the “Man of the House”. So please stop judging “City Growth” with “People’s Personality”.

It's only an economic factor to consider working women..Working women, almost always, display a middle class and lower middle class sensibility..But in Delhi it is also safety, weather conditions, and the fact that the North is a traditional place. Economically sound women will not work unless they start their own business etc or are given v high posts..

Delhi means NCR, I suppose, an Expanding Delhi, unlike other Metros..Being Connected and Surrounded with Haryana and UP is Not a Prestige. Giving Shelter to Innumerable Immigrants from Bihar and Bengal has Made Delhi, full of mini Islands-urban Slums..the Study must have taken the Total numbers of Women.Mumbai cannot Expand,,nor can other cities, researched.

Indian women are brought up with the notion that family comes first that's the reason why they often tend to leave their jobs to take care of the kids.

Delhi may be patriarchal, but there could be so many other reasons too for women staying home, like sound financial base, rumours about working women and boss relations, long working hours being demanded by private companies, and above all love for the family and children over the money. The attitude of women Is very likely to differ over the country. Rape, molestation and sexual harassment are not exclusive to Delhi and can’t be the prime reason for women staying home.

MOST OF THE CRIMES ARE TAKING PLACE AGAINST WORKING WOMEN ONLY. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WHETHER THEY ARE WORKING OR HOUSEWIVES. IF THEY ARE HAPPY IN RUNNING THE HOME, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
