How to teach kids to save?

I am really worried for my 15-year-old son. He is not at all in a habit of saving. Whatever pocket money we give him, he would finish in a week's time and then again ask for money. I know kids today spend more and save less but I think it's high time he should understand the value of money. What do you think are some ways we can inculcate this habit of saving in kids?

Tell you son to keep a record of his daily expenses in a diary and tempt him saying that if he saves certain amount, you would give him a gift.
