Criminals to rule India?

I came across an astonishing survey today that 43 percent of the MLAs have criminal charges against them, which means almost half of them. And these MLAs are from all the parties. I was shocked to read it. With assembly elections due next month, as voter now I am confused who to vote for now ?

Will the country now be ruled by criminals? Will the country ever be free from corruption? With the current scenario I really doubt it. What do you people think?

The country is already being ruled by criminals and corrupt people. They are now subverting the rule suggested by Supreme Court i.e. any person convicted for more than two years will lose his candidature for which those affected are already making hue and cry. Govt. blindly accepting the corrupt peoples plea tried to issue ordinance, which has been withdrawn due to public cry. I hope the public will rise above all pressures and clean the country's sacred seats (Parliament / Assemblies etc.) T.R.CHOPRA

there is an easy way to defeat the criminals, make sure you vote for a candidate who is not a criminal, this means that you need to know all the candidates in and out and you should be willing to vote . the criminals are ruling us because we do not go to vote. it is that simple. if you are really concerned , make sure you vote

You have hit the nail on head. Yes substantial number of the country's rulers have criminals record against them and that is one of the contributing factor in rocketing corruption esteem of which is affecting to remainders too. You may think that during next election voters will ensure that these tainted people loose their positions but remember when a voter goes to vote the majority of the candidates have some negatives attached to them, so voter can never be winner. The only way forward is to ensure that no nominations and immediate disqualification of anybody who happens to have a criminal record at any time. But that can only be a dream far from achievable reality. Under current scenario you can choose only between bad and worse.

Your concern is genuine one. It is a well known secret that about half of the elected representatives are criminals or criminal cases pending. It is really a shame on us that our representatives are mostly criminals. But who is electing them ? Only we, the voters. That is the reason the supreme court has directed the Election Commission to have the provision for those who do not like to vote any of the candidates. This will help us to avoid sending the criminals to Assemblies and Parliament.
