'7-year-old addicted to i-pad'

on Mar 06, 2013 , 07:25 pm
My 7-year-old son is addicted to my husband's i-pad and i-phone. He is always playing games on the i-pad and never has time to study. His school marks have gone down and I don't know what to do.

Every time I try to take away the i-pad, he screams and brings the house down. Please Please help me tackle this problem.

First of all let the battery of your device drain out naturally in front of your child such that recharge is not possible anytime soon(e.g being outdoors where there is no electric plug.) NExt observe his behavior when the device dies in front of him for atleast six hours. If he has withdrawl symptoms like profuse sweating, becoming zombie etc... you will need to see a shrink. If he copes just fine and hardly misses the gadget, you are very lucky and happy.

Use the ipad as a reward for completing studies...getting good marks etc...... And make sure that if your son does not keep his end of the bargain...that you keep the ipad away.......you cant let his bringing the house down drop your guard

Slowly make him feel those are useless.Disconnect the internet facility in the product and allow to use for few days.If he knows to use it well, change the password and remove the games or products which he uses more. But let the ipad/iphone be with him. Finally he has to feel that it is dumb.
