There is a certain logic applied when one books a flight on a Sunday. Chances are that you will book one which will get you back on the day itself comfortable in the knowledge that you will be fresh and rested for work on Monday morning. Silly me for using it and booking a Go Air flight from Mumbai to Delhi.

I booked an 8:30 pm flight that landed at 10:30 pm thinking i'd be back in time to make it home on my own. Delhi being what it is, safety concerns did not permit me to opt for a later flight. So when i got the first message from Go Air which promptly informed me my flight was delayed and had been re-scheduled to 10 pm instead, i was miffed. About 7 in the evening i was informed through yet another SMS that it had been delayed further to 10:45 pm and would land in Delhi at 11:45 pm.

On arriving at the airport an hour before the flight was to take off, i was given my boarding pass by an indifferent staff who informed me i was being put into another flight. No explanations given. Through security check and on to the waiting lounge, while nursing my coffee a fight broke out between irate passengers and Go Air staff. Why? Because the flight had been delayed yet again to 12 midnight! No explanations given again!

Finally when we did start boarding the flight post midnight, we stood like disgruntled cattle for 20 minutes in the bus. Another fight erupted. Finally having no energy left in us for a fight, we boarded flight G8- 345 at 1 am. Landing of course in Delhi at 3 am.

Does flying a budget airline mean cattle class treatment? Go Air does not mean FLY SMART!
