Drinking red wine is good for the heart. There is a fair amount of evidence to suggest this is true, especially if the red wine is drunk with meals.

It is thought that flavonoids, which are found in high levels in red wine, combat the damaging effect of free radicals, which are dangerous molecules that can cause serious problems in the body's cells, including the muscle cells of the heart.
