Keep professional jealousy at bay
I joined my new workplace around 2 years ago. My new office brought about a positive change in my life. It was pretty nice to have a normal 9 to 5 shift as opposed to crazy graveyard shifts that I was used to at my previous organization.
So in my new workplace, I was a part of a team that consisted of 8 girls! Yes, I was literally surrounded my girls at work. And of course as they say, where there are girls, there will be jealousy. You have no idea how true that statement was in my workplace.
And that statement held true for me too. I mean, I know youa??re supposed to wish your colleague well on her new promotion, even though you worked hard for it and you believe your colleague was a major kiss- a**.
And, well, sure you would like to be friendlier to that other colleague of yours, but shea??s so damn organised that it gives you a headache, especially when your boss is always giving her an award for it. Aargh!
I know ita??s hard to admit youa??re jealous of your co-worker, but ita??s the damn truth and you cannot run away from it. Jealousy at work is an extremely common phenomenon, and 8 out of 10 employees have confessed to feeling a??jealousa?? at least once in their lifetimes.
So what really causes us to be so irrational and illogical, that too at our workplace?
I guess the problem is the inflation and the crazy economy that has made our stress levels reach sky-high. Everyone has suddenly become so competitive and emotional, that we find ourselves battling that green-eyed monster in our office premises.
Suddenly, everything that comes out of a co-workera??s mouth seems like a direct attack on you.
But believe me, jealousy at work will get you absolutely nowhere. My advice would be to eradicate these negative feelings and work on your new project with all your might and fury. You will thank me for what lies ahead. A
