Each one of us have dealt with the plague called, 'Depression', at least once in our lives. Being depressed can make you feel helpless. Though depression may sometimes require professional help, but there's a lot you can do to fight it back as well.
Here's a look at some of the tips that YOU can use to beat depression!
1. STAY POSITIVE:
I know this is not as easy as it sounds, but sometimes, you really have to get your act together and rid these negative thoughts from your system. The main reason for depression in many individuals is negativity. Therefore, in order to not let such bad thoughts in your head, it is very important to stay positive and try to think of all things nice.
2. DEVELOP A HOBBY
When you’re depressed, you’re in a rut. Push yourself to do something different. Depression affects those who don't keep busy. Therefore, develop a nice hobby and stay busy. You could join dance classes, take photography lessons or even join a reading club. The point is to STAY BUSY and not let ill thoughts enter your brain.
3. BE REALISTIC
Often we get disturbed when we set out unrealistic expectations for ourselves. That is one of the major reasons for depression. When are expectations are not met, we tent to go into a shell and get depressed. It is very important to be realistic in life. That is the key to happiness.
4. WATCH MOTIVATIONAL MOVIES
Do you remember Shashi's emotional speech at the end of English Vinglish, when she overcomes her fear of the English language, or when Ayesha Takia's character in Dor finally finds the courage to run after her dreams? Well, such are the kind of movies that YOU need to surround your self with if you're depressed. Watching motivational movies can definitely up your spirit.
5. CONTROL YOUR THINKING
Over thinking is one of the sure shot ways of escalating depression. What is the point of over analysing and thinking non stop over issues that are mindless? Trust me, over thinking will stress you out only more.
6. LOSE WEIGHT / YOGA / EXERCISE
The best way to deal with depression is to lose weight and LOOK HOT! Trust me, after an hour of exercise, your body looks great and your mind even better. And looking hot in front of the mirror will kill all the depression that was there in your system!
7. SET GOALS
When you're depressed, you may feel like you can't accomplish anything. That makes you feel worse about yourself. To push back, set daily goals for yourself.
